2 Francs - State Loan Bank reserve banknote

Switzerland's State Loan Bank (Darlehenskasse) series was prepared in 1938 as a contingency reserve — notes to be released into circulation only if a wartime emergency disrupted the normal banking system. They were never actually issued to the public. The entire print run was held in government vaults throughout the Second World War and eventually destroyed, which is why survivors reaching the collector market today did so almost exclusively through official releases or institutional dispersals, not through ordinary use.

Orell Füssli had been the Swiss Confederation's trusted security printer for decades, and the production quality reflects that relationship. No known major varieties or plate errors have been documented for this denomination.
