Reverse description The reverse of a French Madagascar 2 Francs coin, displaying a large frontal zebu head as the central device, flanked by wheat and plant sprigs. The denomination 2 FRANCS appears at the top of the field, and the legend MADAGASCAR runs along the lower border within a beaded inner circle. A hexagonal countermark bearing the legend SOFIM has been applied over the central device, re-valuing and re-issuing the piece as a trade token for use at Juan de Nova Island.
