| Obverse description | Allegorical seated figure of Liberty enthroned, facing left, holding an upright lit torch in her raised left hand, with a cornucopia filled with assorted fruit resting in the bend of her right arm. The design, engraved by Lucien Georges Bazor, is rendered in a refined classical style characteristic of mid-twentieth-century French coinage. The surrounding legend reads REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE UNION FRANÇAISE, with the engraver's signature G.B.BAZOR and the date 1949 appearing in the field.
