| Obverse description | Bare-headed bust of Napoléon I facing right, rendered in high relief with finely detailed curly hair, in the neoclassical style engraved by Pierre-Joseph Tiolier. The portrait occupies the central field with a broad, unadorned truncation at the base. The circumferential legend reads NAPOLEON EMPEREUR, divided to either side of the effigy. The engraver's signature appears incuse on the truncation. The coin border is decorated with a continuous row of fine denticles. |
