Mohammed Al-Hadi ruled as Bey of Tunis from 1902 until his death in 1906, a period in which France exercised near-total financial and administrative control following the 1881 Protectorate Treaty. These francs were struck at the Paris Mint under French supervision — the denomination itself a reflection of the imposed monetary alignment with the French franc system rather than any indigenous Tunisian monetary tradition.
