Obverse description Bare-headed bust of Louis XVIII facing left, with long hair tied in a queue, rendered in high relief in the neoclassical style by engraver Michaut. The king's truncation bears the engraver's signature MICHAUT F. along with a small horse's head privy mark. The encircling legend reads LOUIS XVIII ROI DE FRANCE, disposed along the inner border of evenly spaced dentils.

Reverse description The royal arms of France — a shield semé of fleurs-de-lis — topped by a royal crown, and flanked by two crossed olive and laurel branches tied at the base. The denomination 2 F appears to either side of the shield, the date and mint mark are displayed in the exergue below, and the entire design is contained within an inner border of dentils.
