RODIER and the ESSAI designation — has not been transferred to this lead squeeze. Instead, the surface displays a series of concentric raised rings radiating outward from a central boss, a hallmark feature of such épreuves de contrôle, confirming die alignment and metal distribution prior to official striking. The lead planchet shows characteristic soft-metal flow at the periphery, consistent with its use as a mechanical test piece rather than a numismatic presentation item. No inscriptions are visible on this face. |
