Obverse description The allegorical figure of Helvetia is depicted seated in three-quarter view facing left, wearing a laurel wreath in her flowing hair and a draped classical garment. Her right arm is extended outward with an open hand in a commanding gesture, while her left hand rests upon an oval Swiss Federal shield bearing the white cross, positioned to her right side. Rocky alpine terrain appears in the lower left field, and a sheaf of wheat rises behind the shield to the right. The legend HELVETIA arcs along the upper periphery, and the engraver's name KORN appears in small capitals along the base line, all within a toothed border.
