Obverse description Bare-headed bust of Charles X facing left, rendered in high relief with naturalistic detail to the hair and facial features. The king's neck is truncated at the lower field, with the engraver's signature MICHAUT inscribed along the bottom rim. The circular legend reads CHARLES X ROI DE FRANCE., separated by a stop, running from lower left to lower right along the inner border of fine dentils. The portrait is executed in the neoclassical style characteristic of Michaut's work for the French Restoration monarchy.
