The Belgian Army issued its own scrip currency for use by troops stationed in occupied Germany after the Second World War — separate from civilian francs and not legal tender outside military channels. This 2-franc note is part of that series, introduced in 1946 to prevent military pay from feeding the severely distorted German black market economy, a genuine problem that Allied commands across all occupation zones were struggling to contain.
The bilingual titling reflects Belgium's administrative reality rather than any design flourish. Pick M2 is the lower denomination of a short series that circulated only within a very specific and temporary geography.
