Obverse description Bare-headed effigy of Alexandre Berthier, Prince of Neuchâtel, facing right, with finely engraved curling hair rendered in high relief in the neoclassical style. The truncation is clean and unadorned. The encircling legend reads ALEXANDRE PRINCE DE NEUCHATEL, with the engraver's signature DROZ incused at the base of the truncation. The portrait is executed with exceptional medallic quality, characteristic of Jean-Pierre Droz's refined artistry.

The encircling legend PRINCIPAUTE DE NEUCHATEL. runs along the periphery, with the whole composition presenting a clean, well-balanced neoclassical design.
