The Glorioso Islands are a French overseas territory in the Mozambique Channel, administered by the TAAF (Terres australes et antarctiques françaises) and claimed by both Madagascar and Comoros. France maintains a small military garrison there; the civilian population is effectively zero. A coin issued for this territory in 2024 is a collector issue in every practical sense — no circulating economy exists to absorb it.
