| Opmerkingen |
The Magyar Általános Pénztár was a short-lived revolutionary institution, established by the Hungarian government during the 1848–49 War of Independence against Habsburg rule. These Forint notes were printed locally in Buda out of necessity — the revolutionary government had no access to the established imperial printing infrastructure in Vienna, and Kossuth's administration needed circulating paper currency fast.
Production quality reflects those constraints. Printing was done under improvised conditions, and the paper stock varied across batches. The Austrian suppression of the revolution by August 1849 rendered the entire emission worthless almost immediately after issue.
