| Obverse description | Armored and ruffled-collared bust of Duke Charles Emmanuel I in right profile, rendered in high relief with curly hair and a pointed beard, occupying the central field. The effigy displays elaborate plate armor with visible pauldron detailing and a prominent lace ruff at the collar. The circumferential Latin legend reads CAR·EM·D·G·DVX·SAB·P·PED·ET·C·, separated by pellet stops, running continuously around the portrait. The mintmark and date appear below the bust truncation. The overall style is characteristic of early seventeenth-century Savoyard hammered coinage. |
