Obverse description Bare-headed effigy of King Faisal I facing right, rendered in high relief with finely detailed hair and a short beard, engraved by Percy Metcalfe. The portrait occupies the central field, with the engraver's initials 'PM' incuse below the truncation. An Arabic two-part legend flanks the effigy on either side, reading right to left across the field. The design is clean and uncluttered, reflecting the restrained medallic style typical of British-influenced coinage of the period.
