Military canteen scrip of this type occupied a narrow functional niche in the PRC's internal economy — issued by provincial garrison units to control meal portions and reduce pilferage, not as currency in any meaningful sense. Jiangxi's military district scrip circulated exclusively within mess hall systems, redeemable for specific dishes rather than denominated in cash value, which is why "dishes voucher" appears in the title rather than a monetary unit.
Card stock construction meant heavy attrition in daily use. Survivors in any condition are scarce simply because nobody thought to preserve what was, functionally, a cafeteria token.
