Moulay Sulayman's reign was marked by deliberate withdrawal from European commercial entanglement — he closed several Atlantic ports to foreign trade in the early nineteenth century and leaned hard on internal religious orthodoxy. The falus denominations circulating under his rule were primarily a domestic, low-value medium, and bronze issues like this one saw rough treatment in the souks. The omission of a mint name on the KM#96.1 type has never been definitively resolved; attribution attempts have pointed to Fes, but the evidence remains inconclusive.
