| Beschrijving voorzijde | The bimetallic inner disc features the conjoined effigies of King Willem-Alexander and former Queen Beatrix facing right, rendered in restrained relief. Encircling the left half of the disc, the arc legend reads 'WILLEM-ALEXANDER KONING DER NEDERLANDEN', while the right arc bears 'BEATRIX PRINSES DER NEDERLANDEN'. The royal crown device appears at the apex between the two inscriptions, and the date '2014', flanked by the Utrecht mint mark and the mint master's privy mark, is positioned at the base. The outer ring of copper-nickel carries the twelve stars of the European Union. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Issued to mark Willem-Alexander's accession following Beatrix's abdication on 30 April 2013 — Queen's Day, deliberately chosen as her final act in office. The Netherlands had not seen a reigning king since Willem III died in 1890, making the transition genuinely historic after 123 years of queens. Beatrix herself had acceded under similar circumstances when her mother Juliana abdicated in 1980, a pattern of voluntary abdication that has become something of a Dutch institution.
Mintage was capped at 500,000 pieces for circulation, modest by commemorative standards.
