Issued to mark the 375th anniversary of the University of Tartu, one of the oldest universities in Northern Europe, founded in 1632 under Swedish rule by King Gustav II Adolf. The institution was suppressed twice — once during the Great Northern War and again under Soviet occupation, when it was forcibly renamed after Soviet loyalist Johannes Käbin before being restored to its original name following Estonian independence in 1989.
