Obverse description The central device of the inner disc features the numeral '100' commemorating the centenary of the Royal Meteorological Institute, with the first zero enclosing the abbreviations 'KMI' and 'IRM' and the second zero rendered as a stylised sun. To the left of the sun, meteorological symbols including isobars, raindrops, and snowflakes are depicted in the field. The date '2013' appears within the upper rays of the sun, while the national identifier 'BE' is inscribed within its lower rays. Beneath the '1' of '100', the mint master's privy mark and the Brussels Mint mark — a helmeted profile of the Archangel Michael — are struck in the field. The outer ring carries the twelve stars of the European Union in relief.
