| Reverse description | The standard European reverse design features the large numeral '2' occupying the left portion of the bimetallic centre, with the denomination legend 'EURO' superimposed over a relief map of the European Union extending to the right. The map is rendered in a stippled finish against a smooth field, and the design was engraved by Luc Luycx, whose initials 'LL' appear in the lower right of the inner disc. The outer copper-nickel ring carries the twelve five-pointed stars of the European Union arranged at regular intervals. |
