| Popis líce | The inner disc features an ornamental architectural detail drawn from the facade of the Hotel Van Eetvelde in Brussels, a landmark Art Nouveau townhouse designed by Victor Horta and designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The sinuous, asymmetrical ironwork motif, characteristic of the nature-inspired Art Nouveau idiom, occupies the lower half of the inner disc, while the legend ART NOUVEAU is inscribed in the upper field. The country code BE and the year 2023 appear alongside the designer's initials IB (Iris Bruijns) at the right; the mintmark of the Royal Dutch Mint — a caduceus staff — and the Belgian mint director's privy mark — an aster flower before an Erlenmeyer flask — are positioned at the left. The outer ring carries the twelve stars of the European flag. |
