| Obverse description | Bimetallic fantasy issue featuring a right-facing bust of Pau Claris Casademunt, the 17th-century Catalan statesman and President of the Generalitat, occupying the brass center field. The portrait is rendered in a neoclassical style with fine hair detail. The legend CATALUNYA arcs across the upper portion of the ring, while the dates 1641 and 2016 flank the portrait on left and right respectively, referencing the proclamation of the Catalan Republic.
