| Descrição do anverso | The inner core bears a stylised euro sign ('€') formed by the horizontal inscriptions 'HRVATSKA' (Croatia) and '2023.' together with the curved legend 'ČLANICA EUROPODRUČJA' (Member of the Euro Area) running along the upper edge of the core. Centrally positioned within the core is the Croatian checkerboard (šahovnica), the distinctive red-and-white chequered emblem forming part of Croatia's coat of arms, rendered in high relief. The composition as a whole symbolically evokes the integration of Croatian national identity with European monetary union. The outer ring carries the twelve stars of the European Union flag arranged in a circle. |

Croatia adopted the euro on 1 January 2023, becoming the twentieth member of the eurozone — the first accession since Lithuania joined in 2015. The timing required the Croatian National Bank to have coins ready for circulation on day one of adoption, meaning dies were prepared and striking began well before the formal accession date was confirmed by EU institutions.
The 2023 date on this piece marks the first full year of Croatian euro coinage, making it the founding issue of the national series.
