Reverse description The standard European Union common reverse design for the €2 denomination is depicted. A stylised relief map of Europe spans both the inner core and the outer ring, extending to the right of centre; the numeral '2' is placed prominently in the open field representing the eastern Atlantic Ocean, while the word 'EURO' is superimposed across the continental landmass. Six vertical lines incise the inner core, visually linking the upper and lower star segments. The twelve stars of the European flag are distributed along the right arc of the outer ring, six above and six below the map, with the mint mark 'LL' (Kremnica Mint) appearing in the field.

Additional information

Croatia adopted the euro on 1 January 2023, becoming the twentieth member of the eurozone — the first accession since Lithuania joined in 2015. The timing required the Croatian National Bank to have coins ready for circulation on day one of adoption, meaning dies were prepared and striking began well before the formal accession date was confirmed by EU institutions.

The 2023 date on this piece marks the first full year of Croatian euro coinage, making it the founding issue of the national series.
