Issued during the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic, this piece was France's contribution to a coordinated eurozone commemorative program honoring healthcare and medical research workers. The timing was not coincidental — the Monnaie de Paris accelerated the release schedule as the crisis deepened in spring 2020. Circulation was limited relative to standard French euros, and many examples went directly into collector sets rather than commerce.
