| Popis líce | Facing right portrait of King Juan Carlos I rendered in high relief against a plain field, depicting the monarch as an elderly statesman in contemporary attire. The legend ESPAÑA arcs along the left side of the inner disk, while the date appears in the lower field beneath the effigy. The crowned M mintmark of the Real Casa de la Moneda is positioned to the lower right of the portrait. The bimetallic outer ring displays the twelve stars of the European Union evenly spaced around the circumference. The portrait was engraved by Luis José Díaz Salas and represents the second obverse type used for Spanish euro coinage. |

| Popis rubu | The common reverse design for the 2 euro denomination, as introduced in 2007, features a large numeral 2 occupying the left portion of the nickel brass clad nickel center disk, with a revised map of the European Union extending to the right and overlapping into the copper-nickel outer ring. The inscription EURO is engraved horizontally across the center of the map. The designer's initials LL (for Luc Luycx) appear in small characters to the lower right of the map within the inner disk. The twelve stars of the European Union are arranged around the outer ring, interrupted at the top by vertical milled lines marking the boundary between the ring and center. |
