Beschrijving keerzijde The inner disc of the standard European Union reverse design features a relief map of the European continent rendered without internal national borders, set against a lined background. The bold numeral '2' appears to the left of the map, with the word 'EURO' inscribed below it, together forming the face value. The mint marks 'LL' appear in the field. The outer ring bears the twelve stars of the European flag in relief against a smooth ground, encircling the entire composition.

Aanvullende informatie

Issued to mark the twentieth anniversary of Grand Duke Henri's marriage to Grand Duchess Maria Teresa Mestre, a Cuban-born activist whose influence on Luxembourg's human rights policy has been considerable and occasionally controversial. The couple wed on February 14, 1981 — well before Henri's accession in 2000 — making this one of the few royal anniversary coins that commemorates a union predating the issuer's reign.

The "classic version" designation distinguishes this from a companion issue bearing a different finish, both released in the same year.
