Obverse description The centre of the coin features overlapping portrait effigies of two Grand Dukes of Luxembourg: the larger, facing left, depicts the reigning Grand Duke Henri, while the smaller behind him depicts Grand Duke Guillaume IV, facing slightly left. In the right field, a panoramic view of Luxembourg City with its characteristic spires and fortifications is rendered in low relief. The legend GRANDS-DUCS DE LUXEMBOURG arcs across the upper field, flanked by the mint year 2012. The names HENRI and GUILLAUME IV, along with the death year dagger symbol † 1912, are inscribed in the lower field. The outer ring bears the twelve stars of the European Union.
