Luxembourg's 2008 commemorative marks the 100th anniversary of the Château de Berg becoming the official residence of the Grand Ducal family, acquired by Grand Duke Guillaume IV in 1908. Henri I is the current Grand Duke — the "I" designation a formality of Luxembourg's numbering convention, not indicative of a long dynastic line bearing that name.
Monnaie de Paris struck this issue under the longstanding arrangement by which Luxembourg outsources its coin production to France, a practical consequence of having no mint of its own.
