(Translation: GLORY TO UKRAINE ESTONIA 2022)
Reversbeschreibung The standard common reverse of the €2 circulation coin, designed by Luc Luycx, depicts a stylised geographical outline of the European continent extending across both the inner disc and outer ring. The denomination 2 EURO is inscribed across the centre, with the large numeral '2' set in the open field representing the eastern Atlantic Ocean to the left of the continental map. Twelve five-pointed stars, referencing the flag of the European Union, are arranged along the right arc of the outer ring, six above and six below the map. Six vertical security lines traverse the inner core, connecting the upper and lower star groups. The designer's initials LL appear to the right of the map, near the lower edge of the inner disc.

Zusätzliche Informationen

Estonia was among the fastest EU members to propose a commemorative €2 issue in response to Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, with Eesti Pank moving through the approval process at a pace that pushed this coin into circulation within months of the war's outbreak. The eurozone's commemorative €2 framework requires European Commission sign-off, and Estonia navigated that bureaucratic process with notable urgency.

Finland issued a parallel Ukraine solidarity €2 the same year, but Estonia's carried particular political weight — Tallinn had been sounding alarms about Russian military intentions for years before any invasion materialized.
