Latvia's entry in the EU-wide Erasmus commemorative series, issued to mark the programme's 35th anniversary. Since launching in 1987, Erasmus has funded student exchanges across member states — Latvia, having joined the EU only in 2004, participated relatively late but has since sent and received students at rates disproportionate to its population size.
All eurozone members struck their own national version of this design simultaneously in 2022, making it one of the few true pan-European coin issues where every participating mint produced an identical reverse on the same calendar date.
