Beschrijving keerzijde The standard European Union reverse for the 2 euro denomination, designed by Luc Luycx, depicts a geographical map of Western Europe spanning both the inner disc and the outer ring on the right side of the coin. The denomination '2 EURO' is superimposed over the map, with the numeral '2' set in the open field representing the eastern Atlantic Ocean to the left. Twelve stars of the European Union are arranged along the right portion of the outer ring, six above and six below the map, with six vertical lines incised across the inner disc visually linking the two groups of stars. The mint master's mark 'LL' appears in the field.

Aanvullende informatie

The Erasmus Programme — formally launched in 1987 — takes its name from the Dutch humanist scholar who spent much of his career moving between European universities, which made him an unusually apt choice for a student mobility scheme. Lithuania's 2022 issue marks the programme's 35th anniversary. Over 13 million students had participated by that point, making it one of the most expansive educational exchange programmes in history.

Lithuania joined the programme upon EU accession in 2004.
