Radiating from the portrait, a network of interconnecting links extends across the coin surface, evoking the intellectual and human exchanges fostered by the Erasmus Programme; several of these links converge to form stars, symbolising European unity born from cross-border academic cooperation. The numerals '35', commemorating the 35th anniversary of the programme, emerge prominently from the star motif in a modern typographic treatment. The legend 'ERASMUS PROGRAMME', the dates '1987-2022', and the issuer inscription 'ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΗ ΔΗΜΟΚΡΑΤΙΑ' (Hellenic Republic) appear in the field, along with the designer's initials 'J.J.'.
