| Obverse description | The central disc features a stylised typographic composition in which letters are arranged to simultaneously spell both 'EMONA' and 'AEMONA', evoking the ancient Roman settlement upon which Ljubljana was founded. The letterforms are rendered in a geometric, architecturally inspired style suggestive of a Roman city plan. The legend 'EMONA LJUBLJANA SLOVENIJA 2015' arcs along the lower portion of the inner disc. The outer ring is adorned with the twelve stars of the European Union, as prescribed for all eurozone commemorative coinage. |
