San Marino's 2024 commemorative marks the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights — though the Declaration itself was adopted by the UN General Assembly on 10 December 1948, making 2024 a slightly awkward anniversary year. San Marino, as one of the world's oldest republics, has a particular claim to the subject: its constitutional statutes of 1600 are among the earliest codified governance documents in Europe, predating many of the Enlightenment frameworks that influenced the Declaration's drafters.
