| Obverse description | The inner core features a stylised depiction of the Lusitânia, one of three Fairey III D biplanes employed during the first aerial crossing of the South Atlantic by commander and pilot Sacadura Cabral and navigator Gago Coutinho in 1922, shown in flight against an unadorned field. The legend TRAVESSIA DO ATLÂNTICO SUL arcs along the upper edge of the inner core, while the inscription PORTUGAL 1922–2022 appears below the aircraft. The engraver's signature ESC. JJ BRITO and the mint name CASA DA MOEDA are inscribed in the lower portion of the inner core. The outer ring carries the twelve stars of the European Union flag. |
