| Obverse description | The bimetallic inner disc depicts a frontal view of Magdeburg Cathedral, the earliest Gothic cathedral erected on German soil, rendered in fine relief against a plain field. The inscription 'SACHSEN-ANHALT' arcs across the upper portion of the inner disc, while the issuing country code 'D' appears at the bottom centre. The year '2021' is positioned to the left, and the mint mark ('A', 'D', 'F', 'G', or 'J') is placed below the year; the engraver's initials appear to the right.
