| Obverse description | The obverse features a three-quarter facing effigy of His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI occupying the central field, rendered in fine relief. The legend CITTA DEL VATICANO arcs along the upper periphery, accompanied by the year of issue, while the designer's initials D.L. (Daniela Longo) and the engraver's mark M.C.C. INC.
