Andorra joined the eurozone via a monetary agreement with the EU in 2011, but did not begin issuing its own euro coins for circulation until 2014 — making its commemorative series among the youngest in the currency union. The bearded vulture, Gypaetus barbatus, has a small but monitored breeding population in the Pyrenees, where Andorra's high-altitude terrain provides critical nesting habitat.
