背面描述 The standard common reverse design of the 2 Euro denomination, designed by Luc Luycx, features the large numeral '2' in the left portion of the nickel brass centre, with the word 'EURO' inscribed to the right. A stylised map of the European Union occupies the right field, rendered with fine line detail against a smooth background. The designer's initials 'LL' appear below the map. The outer copper-nickel ring bears the twelve stars of the European Union evenly spaced around the circumference.

附加信息

Issued to mark the 2,500th anniversary of the battle, this coin arrived in a year already complicated by the COVID-19 pandemic, which disrupted distribution across the eurozone. The battle itself — fought in 480 BC during Xerxes I's invasion of Greece — has accumulated so much mythology over the centuries that the historical record, including Herodotus's own inflated casualty figures, is almost impossible to disentangle from the legend. Greece has leaned hard into the Thermopylae narrative as a founding story of Western resistance, a framing that remains politically loaded to this day.
