| 表面の説明 | The centre features an amber disc, one of the most emblematic symbols of Baltic culture, decorated with a crosspiece of drilled dots arranged in an ornamental pattern symbolising the axis of the world. The legend LIETUVA arcs across the upper portion of the inner disc, flanked by the Lithuanian Mint mark (LMK) to the left and the date 2016 to the right. The outer ring, common to all euro circulation coinage, bears the twelve stars of the European Union evenly spaced around the circumference. The overall design is rendered in a restrained, geometric style evoking ancient Baltic decorative traditions. |

Lithuania joined the eurozone on January 1, 2015, making it the last of the three Baltic states to adopt the euro. This 2016 issue was released as part of a broader Baltic commemorative program — a joint initiative among Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania in which each country issued a coin on the shared theme of Baltic culture, coordinated across all three mints for the same year.
The program was partly a political statement, emphasizing a unified Baltic identity less than thirty years after Soviet occupation ended.
