| Reverse description | The standard European Union reverse design, as adopted for the €2 denomination, features a geographical relief map of Western Europe extending across both the inner disc and the outer ring on the right side of the coin. The bold numeral '2' is situated in the open field representing the eastern Atlantic Ocean to the left, with the inscription 'EURO' to its right superimposed over the continental landmass. Twelve five-pointed stars, symbolizing the member states of the European Union, are arranged in two groups of six along the upper and lower portions of the outer ring, flanking the map. Six vertical lines crossing the inner disc visually connect the two star groupings. The reverse was designed by Luc Luycx, whose initials 'LL' appear in the lower right of the inner disc. |
