| Obverse description | The national side features a right-facing portrait effigy of the Greek poet Andreas Kalvos (1792–1869), rendered in a neoclassical style by engraver George Stamatopoulos, whose monogram appears to the right of the portrait. The legend 'ΑΝΔΡΕΑΣ ΚΑΛΒΟΣ 1792-1869' is inscribed along the inner edge at the left, with the mint year '2019' and the palmette mintmark of the Greek Mint also present. The wording 'ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΗ ΔΗΜΟΚΡΑΤΙΑ' (Hellenic Republic) is inscribed along the inner edge at the right. The coin's outer ring bears the twelve stars of the European Union flag. |
