| Obverse description | The inner centre of the bimetallic coin depicts a composite tribute to the Monégasque sculptor François-Joseph Bosio (1768–1845). To the left, a three-quarter portrait bust of Bosio is shown in contemporary early 19th-century dress with an open collar and coat, his dishevelled hair rendered with fine detail. To the right, a reduced reproduction of one of his celebrated neoclassical sculptures — a seated semi-draped male figure wearing a laurel wreath — is depicted in high relief. The legend MONACO appears at the top of the field in large capitals, with FRANÇOIS-JOSEPH BOSIO, the dates 1768 and 2018, and SCULPTEUR inscribed along the lower arc. The mint mark and engraver's privy mark appear flanking the lower inscription. The outer ring carries the twelve stars of the European Union. |
