Obverse description	The German federal eagle, the traditional symbol of national sovereignty, is depicted in the centre of the coin, rendered in a stylised heraldic manner. The eagle is surrounded by the twelve stars of the European Union arranged in a circular wreath along the inner ring. The mint mark appears in the lower field, and the year of issue is inscribed along the lower periphery of the inner disc. The design was engraved by Heinz Hoyer and Sneschana Russewa-Hoyer.
