| 背面描述 | The reverse of the inner disc features the standard eurozone design by Luc Luycx, depicting a relief map of the European continent without internal national borders, set against a background of horizontal lines representing the globe. The numeral '2' appears prominently to the left of the map, with the word 'EURO' inscribed below, together forming the face value. The designer's initials 'LL' are visible in the field. The outer ring bears the twelve stars of the European Union. |

The Ponte 25 de Abril was inaugurated in August 1966 under Salazar's Estado Novo regime, then known as the Ponte Salazar. It was renamed after the Carnation Revolution of April 25, 1974 — the bloodless coup that ended 48 years of authoritarian rule. This coin's 2016 issue marks the bridge's 50th anniversary, a commemoration that carries the particular irony of celebrating infrastructure built by a dictatorship under the name of the revolution that overthrew it.
