Andorra only gained the right to mint euro-denominated coinage through a Monetary Agreement with the European Union signed in June 2011, which took effect in 2012 — remarkably late given that Andorran pesetas and French francs had circulated alongside Spanish currency for decades. The first Andorran euro coins didn't reach circulation until 2014, making this among the newest sovereign euro issues. Mintage figures have remained modest throughout the series, with production handled by the Monnaie de Paris.
