| Obverse description | The obverse features the common commemorative design issued by all Eurozone member states for the 10th anniversary of Euro banknotes and coins, created by Helmut Andexlinger. At centre, a stylised globe is encircled by a ring of symbols representing various aspects of modern European life and industry, including residential buildings, wind turbines, industrial facilities, and transport infrastructure. The legend REPUBBLICA ITALIANA arcs along the upper portion of the inner disc, with the anniversary dates 2002 and 2012 separated in the lower field.
