Issued to mark the tenth anniversary of euro banknotes and coins entering circulation on January 1, 2002, this was a eurozone-wide commemorative with all member states producing their own national version simultaneously. Germany's output was divided across all five active mints — Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Karlsruhe, and Stuttgart — each carrying its respective mint mark, making a complete set of five a straightforward but deliberate collecting target.
The 2002 cash introduction itself was one of the largest currency changeovers in history, with roughly 7.4 billion banknotes and 38.2 billion coins entering circulation across twelve countries within weeks.
